The Unknown Preacher

Charles Spurgeon was converted at Primitive Methodist Chapel on Artillery Street in Colchester, Essex. That much no one contests. But no one knows who preached the sermon that led to his conversion.20120625-221051.jpg

Think about that. The prince of preachers, the prolific and profound Spurgeon was forever changed by some no-named preacher.

That’s encouraging.

Do you ever feel like you’re serving in obscurity? Do you ever feel disappointed with the fruit of your work? Then consider this unknown preacher who spoke the Gospel to Spurgeon. He was an average joe then, and he is unknown now. But you better believe God knows his name. You better believe God had a plan for his life. You’ve got to know he was greatly used of God. And the same may be true of you.

Your life may only change one other, but that is enough. God can start an avalanche with your simple obedience, your narrow impact. He can move a mountain with your mustard seed faith.

So serve faithfully. History may forget you, but God never will.
